Depending on the needs of your loved one when under hospice care, they could fall under one of these 4 levels of care:

Routine Care: This is the most common level of care for patients and is usually provided in the patient’s home (wherever that may be). Typically, these patients have symptoms that are well-managed through interventions and are relatively stable.

General Inpatient Care: This is utilized for short-term management of unmanageable symptoms (such as out of control pain) and is provided outside the home in an inpatient setting such as a hospital or specialized facility.

Continuous Home Care: This type of care is used during crises and is typically provided in the home. Nurses are present to provide continuous care to manage symptoms such as pain or agitation to ensure the patient remains comfortable and the family is supported.

• Respite Care
: This is used for short-term stays in nursing homes, inpatient facilities, or hospitals to relieve family members/caregivers when needed.
